"The director manipulates the tension in his film extremely skillfully. The record of events, despite the chaos, seems not to be accidental and well-run, intensifying the tension with each stage."
Michał Kaczoń, Film
The main character of the film, 18-year-old Kaja, is staying at the camp with her younger sister and a group of friends. We meet with them 12 minutes before the first shot on the island of Utoya, July 22, 2011, a sunny day that will later be recorded in history as the worst in the history of modern Norway. Participants already know about the bomb detonated by Anders Behring Breivik in central Oslo. But is it possible for a rightist extremist to be on the island now? Nobody expects that the worst possible scenario will take place in their lives in a moment.
The director follows the camera behind Kaya, staging the unlucky 72 minutes of the fight for life. "You will never understand it," says the heroine to the phone, which appears in the frame only later. First of all, Kaja directs his words to us ... viewers.
